Goals. Goals. Goals.
The ability to set goals
and make plans to achieve them is the “master skill” of success.
Goal-setting will do more to help you achieve the things you want in
life than will anything else you’ve been exposed to.
The payoff for setting goals and making plans for them is being able to choose the kind of life you want to live. However…
Less than 3% of adults have written goals.
And less than 1% review and rewrite their goals on a daily basis.
That means, if today you
started writing down your goals every day from this day forward, you
would immediately move into the top 1% of all people!
If you’re in a leadership role, goal-setting is absolutely essential to motivating your team. But if you really want to maximize your goal-setting and goal-achieving skills, you have to set SMART goals. This acronym stands for:
S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Achievable
R = Relevant
T = Time-bound
M = Measurable
A = Achievable
R = Relevant
T = Time-bound
Most of the problems with
goal-achieving stem back to a lack of clarity in setting the goal in the
first place. With SMART goals, both your personal and business goals
will be perfectly clear to everyone.
